(PROCONSUL, a stern-looking man, is speaking, hand to his chin in thought.)
PROCONSUL: I must relay news of these 3-second scans to El Puño. The Empire’s monitors had begun to limit our plans. Panel 2:
(From behind, a NYX, an alien with a rhino-like appearance, responds to PROCONSUL.)
NYX: The human delineated as “El Puño” will not have been on Du Fu, but will have returned to Tierra on an unregistered flight.
PROCONSUL: Gaah. That woman comes and goes like a ghost. Panel 3:
(Close up on PROCONSUL)
PROCONSUL: But that leaves me with a problem: I cannot call her on the Cruz relays. That system is riddled with spies and the servants of spies. Panel 4:
(PROCONSUL in silhouette)
PROCONSUL: And I cannot travel to Tierra. I haven’t returned in years! My cousins would be instantly suspicious. Panel 5:
(NYX leans forward, presenting a solution.)
NYX: This Governor will have forgotten. These Nyx will have provided El Puño with a quantum-paired communicator. Panel 6:
(PROCONSUL points dramatically as NYX explains further.)
NYX: The single photon container here will have already been entangled with another, on her device. They will have sung together, when one will have sung alone. Panel 7:
(PROCONSUL excitedly holding the device.)
PROCONSUL: OH! OH-OH-OH! Yes! I will message her now. Yes-yes-yes! Such brilliance! Panel 8:
(Scene shifts to TIERRA, where El Puño is at a public event. She stands amongst a crowd in front front of a banner that reads “Guangzhou shipyards proudly welcomes his majesty to the NINTH FLEET LAUNCH. The emperor holds a champagne bottle, about to christen the ship, but he is interrupted by…
