PANEL 1: NARRATION: First Panopticon, Brussels PANEL 1: View of a city with a tall skyscraper cutting through the clouds. EL PUÑO (voice bubble pointing to inside the tower): Ah, Royal Astronomer. Thank you for coming. …You’re the first astrophysicist to arrive. PANEL 2: The ROYAL ASTRONOMER, a Fillipod (muppet-like alien with 6 eyes, wearing a tie) speaks to EL PUÑO, the head of the Jinyewei wearing a dark uniform with white epaulettes and a white hood covering most of her face. Swords stick out from the sheath on her back. ROYAL ASTRONOMER: Oh, was this a group invite? I would’ve worn my MEETING tie. EL PUÑO: Of sorts. The Jinyiwei is presented with a problem we don’t yet know how to solve. PANEL 3: The two stand in silhouette against the window of the tower. The view is only clouds. EL PUÑO: As you know, we’ve installed drive-activation detectors near all our core worlds. There’s no little chance the continuum could leap in without us noticing. PANEL 4: Close up on EL PUÑO as she continues. EL PUÑO: But we have a new challenge for you. We need to discern not only a Drive’s activation, but A VERY SPECIFIC DRIVE’S ACTIVATION. PANEL 5: ROYAL ASTRONOMER responds, skeptical. ASTRONOMER: Hmm. That is…THEORETICALLY possible. If we had the specific resonance that a continuum ship’s ring produced… EL PUÑO: It’s not a continuum ship. It’s La Invencible. PANLE 6: ROYAL ASTRONOMER responds surprised, EL PUÑO stays unemotional. ASTRONOMER: There Emperor’s ship? But… don’t you have remote access to every ring ship in the Empire? EL PUÑO: We do. But the Emperor’s voice command access could shut that off for his ship. PANEL 7: EL PUÑO turns her back, ASTRONOMER is shocked. ASTRONOMER: Wait. Have you…lost the Emperor?
